Alan was born in Bakersfield, CA and worked for his father at his airport when he was just 14 years old. He began flying when he was 16, sloed in 1952 - in a Fairchild PT-23. He was licensed in 1957 and has a commercial and multi-engine rating.. In 1959 he added a sea plane rating. Army Aviation from 1957-1960 and moved to Fresno in 1960. In 1965 he flew for Lisle Air Service and received his A&P license and his ATP. He founded his own aircraft maintenance business in 1970 and has owned many antique aircraft, inlcuding the Waco QD4 that won the Grand Champions at Oshkosh several years ago. he flies a PT-22 in Air Shows and has over 8000 hrs of flight time.
